SAIPAN — Water service has been restored to 100 percent of customers on Saipan, Tinian and Rota, the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation said in its latest verified restoration rollup, while power restoration on Rota climbed to 21 percent.
The figures, verified as of Wednesday, cover recovery from Super Typhoons Sinlaku and Bavi across all three islands.
On Saipan, 12,688 of 14,687 adjusted customer accounts were energized, or 86 percent. CUC said the adjusted figure, down from 15,624 total accounts, reflects facilities that sustained storm damage and cannot be safely energized at this time.
Tinian stood at 94 percent, with 993 of 1,059 accounts energized. CUC said areas still pending restoration include the Suicide Cliff areas and customers awaiting weather head repairs, transformer replacements and power pole replacements.
On Rota, 204 of 967 accounts were energized, or 21 percent. CUC said Feeder 2 was energized on Aug. 7 at 9:09 a.m. and that load is being added gradually to protect the distribution system as crews work to restore additional customers.
On water, CUC advised customers experiencing little to no pressure to check their property for possible leaks and contact customer service at (670) 664-4282, noting that hidden leaks may prevent water from reaching a home even after service is restored.
