SAIPAN – The CNMI Office of Veterans Affairs has canceled this year’s Memorial Day ceremony due to ongoing recovery from Super Typhoon Sinlaku, the office announced Tuesday.
There will be no formal service, but the Veterans Affairs Office will place flowers and flags at each grave at the Veterans Cemetery to honor fallen service members, according to a public service announcement.
“This Memorial Day, we remember and continue to pray for our fallen warriors and their families for the sacrifices they have made,” the office said.
The Veterans Cemetery remains open to the public. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Austerity Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays.
