SAIPAN — The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will hold its 17th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament on Saturday, July 25, at the LaoLao Bay Golf and Resort West Course, after the event was postponed earlier this year because of Super Typhoon Sinlaku.
The chamber said the tournament was originally set for April 25 but was pushed back due to the typhoon’s impacts and the island’s ongoing recovery. With recovery continuing, the chamber said it is bringing the signature event back to give the community a chance to come together in support of local students.
Proceeds from the tournament directly support the chamber’s scholarship program, which provides financial assistance to students across the CNMI. The chamber said it remained committed to continuing both the tournament and its scholarship efforts despite the challenges this year.
The tournament will use a two-person scramble format, with player check-in at 6 a.m. and a shotgun start at 7 a.m.
Registration is open and closes July 20. Early bird registration runs through July 13 at a discounted rate of $260 per team, with an optional play package for $40 per team. After July 13, registration increases to $280 per team and the optional play package rises to $60 per team.
The chamber said payments are accepted only at its office or by credit card over the phone or email, and checks should be made payable to the Saipan Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber invited businesses, organizations and community members to take part. The registration form is available online, and the chamber can be reached for assistance at (670) 234-7150 or by email at sccgolftourney@saipanchamber.org.
