SAIPAN — Tuesday looks partly cloudy with isolated morning showers and scattered island-effect showers in the afternoon, with highs around 87, light and variable winds and a 20 percent chance, the National Weather Service in Tiyan said in its 6 p.m. forecast. Tonight runs partly cloudy with isolated showers and lows around 80.
The pattern turns midweek. Wednesday brings scattered, locally heavy island-effect showers in the afternoon at a 30 percent chance, and Wednesday night the southwest winds arrive at 10 to 15 mph with the chance climbing to 50 percent. Thursday turns breezy with locally heavy scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, southwest winds 15 to 20 mph and a 50 percent chance, before Thursday night and Friday ease to 30 percent with highs in the upper 80s. Forecasters say the disorganized monsoon pattern feeding Guam could become numerous with locally heavy showers here sometime Wednesday.
On the water, seas of 3 to 5 feet build through the week: 4 to 6 feet Wednesday, 6 to 8 feet Thursday as southwest winds reach 20 knots, and as high as 8 to 9 feet by week’s end on the westerly swell.
