The National Weather Service Guam’s 6 p.m. forecast has the Marianas in a brief lull: partly cloudy tonight with isolated showers and lows around 78, then mostly sunny starts Wednesday and Thursday for Saipan and Tinian with highs around 87, turning partly cloudy with scattered island effect showers in the afternoons. Chance of showers holds at 30 percent through Thursday, with light and variable winds becoming northwest 5 to 10 mph.
The pattern changes heading into the weekend. Thursday night through Friday brings a 40 percent chance of showers with west winds 5 to 15 mph, and locally heavy showers are possible beginning Friday night as the disorganized monsoon pattern reasserts itself. Saturday through Tuesday holds mostly cloudy skies, a 40 percent shower chance and a slight chance of thunderstorms, with lows in the upper 70s and highs in the upper 80s.
On the water, combined seas of 6 to 7 feet tonight ease to 4 to 5 feet by Wednesday night as the west-southwesterly monsoon swell decreases, then build back to 6 to 8 feet by the weekend. Light to gentle west winds hold for the next few days.
