SAIPAN — Veterans and their families will have three days of in-person help with VA benefits and service-connected claims next month, with a VFW department service officer traveling to Saipan Sept. 20 through 22.
Vernon C. Lask, department service officer for the VFW Department of Pacific Areas, will be on island to provide assistance with VA benefits and service-connected claims, VFW Saipan Post 3457 announced. Lask holds VA Office of General Counsel accreditation, which authorizes him to represent veterans in claims before the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The schedule runs Sunday, Sept. 20, from 1 to 5 p.m., and Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 21 and 22, from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. each day. The venue will be announced at a later time.
Appointments are encouraged, though walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment, veterans can contact Anthony Demapan, senior vice commander and assistant department service officer with VFW Saipan Post 3457, at (670) 785-1442 or tdemapan808@gmail.com. Demapan also holds VA accreditation as a service officer.
Veterans requesting claims assistance will be required to complete VA Form 21-22, which authorizes VFW representation and assistance with their VA claim.
The post asked the community to help spread the word to veterans and their families on Saipan who may benefit from the opportunity.
