TINIAN — The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation will conduct three scheduled power service interruptions on Tinian this week as line crews continue replacing typhoon-damaged wooden power poles with concrete, the utility announced Monday.
On Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the interruption covers the Diamond Suite Hotel, Mobil Bulk Plant, Tinian Harbor and the Tinian Diamond/Temporary CUC Customer Center Office, allowing crews to replace two damaged 45-foot power poles with concrete poles.
On Friday, Aug. 21, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the interruption covers Marpo Heights I and II, including areas west of the Tinian Airport, Ace Hardware and Docomo Pacific, for the replacement of three damaged 45-foot poles.
On Sunday, Aug. 23, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the interruption covers the Carolinas Agricultural areas to Suicide Cliff, with a shorter momentary interruption from 8 to 10 a.m. affecting portions of Marpo Valley and the Carolinas Agricultural areas, to allow crews to remove and install power equipment.
No water wells will be affected by any of the interruptions.
Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and exercise caution while driving in the work areas or to take alternative routes.
The work follows Monday’s pole replacement in the Housing/Broadway Estates area. For more information, residents may contact the CUC Tinian Office at (670) 433-9265 or (670) 433-9200. In case of an emergency, customers may contact Customer Service at (670) 664-4282.
