Marianas Sees Isolated Showers Friday With Highs Near 85

SAIPAN — The National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam forecasts a partly sunny Friday across the Marianas with isolated showers, southeast winds of 10 to 15 mph, and highs around 85 degrees. The chance of showers is 20 percent.

Conditions turn mostly cloudy overnight with isolated showers continuing and lows around 79 degrees. Southeast winds hold at 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday brings partly sunny skies with isolated showers and thunderstorms, highs near 87 degrees, and the same southeast winds of 10 to 15 mph. Winds shift to the east Saturday night, with partly cloudy skies through Sunday, lows around 79 degrees, and highs near 87 degrees. The shower chance stays at 20 percent through the weekend.

On Marianas coastal waters out to 40 nautical miles, southeast winds of 10 to 15 knots and seas of 5 to 7 feet are expected Friday, easing to around 5 feet through the weekend as winds turn east Saturday night. Combined seas are built from a building southwest swell, a lingering north-northeast swell, and the easterly trade swell.

Well west of the region, Tropical Storm Jangmi is moving north-northwest into the Philippine Sea and away from Yap, posing no threat to the Marianas.

At Tanapag Harbor on Saipan, high tide reaches 2.1 feet at 5:16 a.m. Friday, with low tide at minus 0.1 feet at 12:44 p.m. and a second high tide of 2.0 feet at 8:20 p.m.
