Marianas Forecast: Partly Cloudy, Isolated Showers to Open June

SAIPAN — Saipan, Tinian and Rota will see partly cloudy skies with isolated showers Monday, a high near 87 degrees and east winds of 10 to 15 mph, the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam said in its 6 a.m. forecast. The chance of showers is 20 percent.

The quiet pattern holds overnight and through the week, with partly cloudy skies, isolated showers, lows near 79 degrees and highs near 87 from Tuesday through Wednesday. Forecasters said the outlook from Wednesday night through Sunday calls for highs in the upper 80s, lows in the upper 70s and a 20 percent chance of showers.

Typhoon Jangmi remains far to the west and poses no threat to the Marianas. Forecasters said its small west swell is combining with a persistent east trade swell to hold seas at 3 to 5 feet through at least Monday night before they diminish further.

Marianas coastal waters out to 40 nautical miles will see east winds of 10 to 15 knots Monday, easing to around 10 knots overnight and to 5 knots by midweek. Seas of 3 to 5 feet will settle to 2 to 4 feet by Wednesday.

In Tanapag Harbor on Saipan, high tide reaches 2.0 feet at 6:23 a.m. Monday, followed by a low of minus 0.3 feet at 2:30 p.m. and a second high of 2.1 feet at 10:31 p.m. Rota’s morning high reaches 2.2 feet at 6:50 a.m. and Tinian’s reaches 1.7 feet at 6:51 a.m.
