Scattered Showers and Isolated Thunderstorms Monday for the Marianas; Seas Building Through Midweek

SAIPAN — Partly sunny skies with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are in store for Saipan, Tinian and Rota Monday, with east winds at 10 to 15 mph and highs around 86 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Tiyan. The chance of showers is 30%.

The shower chance holds at 30% overnight as skies turn mostly cloudy and lows drop to around 77. East winds ease to 10 to 15 mph.

Tuesday and Wednesday bring breezy conditions with east winds picking up to 15 to 25 mph and isolated showers at a 20% chance. Highs near 87, lows around 77. The remainder of the week through Sunday stays partly to mostly cloudy with shower chances ranging from 20 to 30% and highs in the upper 80s.

Coastal waters are running 5 to 7 feet today with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. A secondary northerly swell arriving midweek will push seas to 7 to 9 feet Wednesday before easing back to 6 to 8 feet Thursday and 6 to 7 feet Friday. Mariners should plan for building sea conditions through the week.
