WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds took to the House floor to recognize the response to Super Typhoon Sinlaku and thank the local, federal and nonprofit partners working on CNMI recovery.
In a one-minute speech, the CNMI delegate commended local first responders, utility crews and linemen across the Marianas, mayor’s offices, FEMA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for their work during the response and recovery.
King-Hinds also thanked nonprofit and faith-based organizations including World Central Kitchen, Team Rubicon, Samaritan’s Purse, the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Project Buddy Check 670, the Ayuda Foundation and the Tan Siu Lin Foundation for their continued work to help rebuild the community.
She extended her gratitude to the CNMI diaspora, churches, medical workers, community volunteers and residents who raised funds, shipped supplies, cleared roads, delivered aid and cared for neighbors during the storm and the recovery.
“Recovery is powered not only by government, but by the community,” King-Hinds said.
She yielded back the balance of her time after the recognition.
