FEMA Ships Largest Single Relief Delivery to CNMI; 45 Generators, 250,000 Meals Among Supplies

SAIPAN — The Federal Emergency Management Agency has dispatched its largest single shipment in support of Typhoon Sinlaku recovery efforts, a massive relief delivery assembled in Hawaii and routed through Guam before reaching the Northern Mariana Islands.

The shipment includes 45 generators, 250,000 meals, 650,000 liters of drinking water, 1,000 tents, 3 water tank trailers, 4,000 tarps and 24 containers of metal roofing supplies.

FEMA said the supplies were loaded onto a container ship in Honolulu and transported to Guam, where the agency’s field workforce received and redistributed the cargo by aircraft and smaller vessels to reach the CNMI. Territorial and local governments and emergency management agencies then receive the supplies and distribute them to communities and survivors.

FEMA said the operation significantly increases resources available for the ongoing Sinlaku recovery effort across Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
