DPS: Man in Viral Dandan Video Was Carrying Airsoft Rifle, No Arrest Made

SAIPAN — A man seen carrying what appeared to be a rifle while walking down a village street in Dandan in a video circulating on social media was carrying an airsoft rifle and was not arrested, the CNMI Department of Public Safety said Monday.

In a statement from DPS Public Information Officer Fred Sato, the agency said officers were dispatched to the location after the video circulated. Officers learned the man in the video was walking to a friend’s house to have his airsoft rifle fixed.

DPS said no arrest was made. The man was given a strong warning to keep his airsoft in a case.
