SAIPAN — The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation is asking residents to report any signs of water leaks immediately as the agency works to restore water service across Saipan following Super Typhoon Sinlaku, with only a third of customers currently receiving water.
CUC said residents should call its 24-hour customer line at (670) 664-4282 if they notice standing water, damp pavement on a dry day, water bubbling up from the ground, or water near a meter box. The utility said early reporting helps avoid road damage and service interruptions and conserves water for households still without supply.
With Saipan’s water system producing at roughly 45% of normal capacity and more than two-thirds of customers still without service, every undetected leak draws directly from a limited recovery supply. CUC said a small leak might not seem significant but that every gallon saved puts water in someone else’s home.
