SAIPAN — Commonwealth Utilities Corporation crews are recovering storm-damaged transmission and distribution materials to assess whether they can be safely reused, the utility said Tuesday, as part of an effort to maximize available resources during the ongoing Super Typhoon Sinlaku recovery.
CUC and Guam Power Authority crews are also working together to test both new and salvaged transformers from the storm to ensure they are safe and usable before being reinstalled on power poles, CUC said.
The salvage and testing work helps make the most of available on-hand materials while additional supplies and equipment continue to arrive, the utility said, supporting faster progress toward power restoration in the days ahead.
