CNMI OIT Responding to Cyber Attack on Government Email Accounts

SAIPAN – The CNMI Office of Information Technology is responding to a recent cyber attack affecting certain government email accounts on the cnmi.gov and dof.gov.mp domains, the CNMI Department of Finance said in a release Thursday.

OIT is aware of the incident and is actively working to resolve it, the release said. OIT has initiated systemwide security protocols and corrective actions to restore full functionality and ensure the continued safety of government systems, the release said.

Government users who currently do not have access to their email accounts should submit a support ticket at helpdesk.oit.cnmi.gov, the release said. Users unable to submit a ticket due to access issues can contact OIT directly at (670) 322-1400 for assistance.

As OIT continues mitigation efforts, all government users were reminded to remain cyber aware, the release said. Government users should not click on suspicious links, open attachments from unknown senders, or respond to unexpected requests for passwords or personal information, the release said, citing key practices emphasized in OIT’s cybersecurity awareness training.

OIT will continue to provide updates as restoration progresses, the release said.

“We appreciate the cooperation and patience of all government users as we work diligently to strengthen system protections and maintain operational continuity,” the release said.
