SAIPAN — The CNMI Department of Labor has extended the submission deadline for the First Quarter 2026 Census of Employment due to the widespread impacts of Super Typhoon Sinlaku, the department said in a release Tuesday.
The original Q1 submission deadline of April 30 is now postponed and aligned with the Second Quarter reporting deadline. Employers must submit both the First Quarter and Second Quarter 2026 Census of Employment reports no later than July 31, DOL said.
Despite the combined deadline, DOL emphasized that each quarter must still be completed and submitted separately. Employers should report employment information specific to each individual quarter so that the data remains representative of actual workforce conditions during that reporting period, the department said.
The Census of Employment is a labor market reporting tool authorized under CNMI labor regulations that provides near real-time workforce data used by government agencies, businesses, educators, and policymakers. Accurate reporting supports workforce planning, economic recovery efforts, and the development of employment and training strategies across the Commonwealth, DOL said.
The department said it recognizes the significant challenges many employers continue to face following Super Typhoon Sinlaku and appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during the recovery process. DOL said it remains committed to supporting employers while maintaining the collection of workforce data needed to guide the CNMI’s economic recovery and future planning efforts.
Employers who fail to submit their COE data by the deadline may be subject to follow-up enforcement actions and may be denied the Certificate of Good Standing issued by CNMI DOL, the department said. Beyond enforcement, non-compliance undermines collective efforts to maintain accurate and reliable employment data for the Commonwealth.
Employers can complete their submission online at labor.cnmi.gov by navigating to the Employers section and selecting Report Census of Employment. For questions or assistance, employers may contact CNMI DOL at (670) 664-3196 or email info@dol.gov.mp.
