TINIAN — STAR Marianas Air President Shaun Christian posted the following message to Facebook on Sunday, May 3, 2026, reflecting on the weight of Sinlaku recovery and recognizing the airline’s teams across the Marianas and Guam. It is published here as posted.
Living here on Tinian, I see the reality of this recovery every time I look outside. The NMI News update below shows the numbers, but it doesn’t capture how heavy life feels right now. It is the constant planning for gas, the hum of generators, and the daily reminder that we are still a long way from normal.
I want to recognize the incredible people I get to work with at STAR Marianas Air.
Whether you are on Tinian or Saipan, I know the struggle doesn’t end when your shift does. Even though the Saipan airport has power and water, I know many of you are going home to dark houses and the same challenges we are all facing. To our teams in Guam and Rota, you are the backbone of this operation. This airline simply would not move without you making sure the relief and transportation stay on track.
Every one of you is part of the reason our islands stay connected. We are all tired, and everything is more difficult right now, but we are pushing through it together. I am counting my blessings tonight for a roof over my head and for the privilege of working alongside this team.
