USACE Sets Tinian Debris Removal Schedule Through July 4

SAIPAN — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in coordination with CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management and FEMA, is conducting residential typhoon debris removal across Tinian on a sector-by-sector schedule running through July 4, officials said.

The cleanup is divided into four sectors. Sector 3, covering Marpo Heights, Marpo Heights II, and Marpo Valley, runs June 3 to 9. Sector 4, covering District 1 and West San Jose, runs June 10 to 16. Sector 2, covering Carolinas Heights, runs June 17 to 24. Sector 1, covering Districts 2, 3, and 4 and the subdivision, runs June 25 to July 4.

To support collection, residents are asked to place properly sorted debris along the public right-of-way without blocking roadways, fire hydrants, or utility meters. Debris should be separated into vegetative debris, appliances, construction and demolition debris, sheet metal, electronics, and household hazardous materials.

Regular household trash will not be collected as part of the operation, and residents should continue using their normal waste disposal services, officials said.

Once a roadway has been cleared, residents are directed to keep it clear. Dumping debris on a cleared roadway is punishable by law under 2 CMC § 3416.

For debris operation inquiries, residents can call the USACE hotline at (670) 588-9850.
