Survivor Recovery Center to Open on Tinian Monday at the Youth Center

TINIAN — A Survivor Recovery Center will open on Tinian Monday, May 11, at the Tinian Youth Center, the Office of the Mayor of Tinian and Aguiguan announced.

The center will give Tinian residents face-to-face access to representatives from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration and the American Red Cross under one roof, with assistance available for FEMA Individual Assistance, SBA Disaster Loans and Red Cross financial assistance.

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., beginning May 11. American Red Cross representatives will only be available Monday through Thursday during the week of May 11.

At the center, residents can meet face-to-face with representatives to receive assistance with temporary housing, home repairs, replacement of damaged personal property and other disaster-related needs following Typhoon Sinlaku.

The Mayor’s Office said residents are encouraged to register with FEMA and SBA before visiting. Those already registered should bring their application tracking numbers. Staff will be available on-site to assist with completing applications.

Residents can apply with FEMA online at DisasterAssistance.gov, through the FEMA Mobile App, or by calling (671) 735-1050 or (800) 621-3362. SBA disaster loan applications can be completed at sba.gov/disaster or by calling (800) 659-2955. Telecommunications relay services are available at 7-1-1.

The Mayor’s Office said the center will be accessible to individuals with disabilities and those with access and functional needs. Accessible parking is available, communication access equipment will be on-site, and American Sign Language interpreters are available upon request.

The Mayor’s Office also reminded residents that receiving assistance from the S.T.R.O.N.G. Tent Program, S.T.R.O.N.G. Roof Program or the American Red Cross does not disqualify individuals from FEMA assistance. Each FEMA application is reviewed based on the applicant’s unique disaster-related needs.
