Star Marianas Air Confirms Continued Operations During Typhoon Sinlaku Recovery

SAIPAN — Star Marianas Air is reassuring the public that it remains fully operational following reports that some air carriers would suspend service, clarifying that its federal authorizations allow it to continue flying while larger carriers are grounded during post-storm airport repairs.

The airline said the suspension applies to Part 121 carriers — commercial jets — which face restrictions when airports are undergoing post-storm Part 139 infrastructure certifications. Star Marianas operates as a Part 135 commuter air carrier and is authorized to continue service safely while those larger-scale certifications are being restored.

The airline said its team is already moving essential cargo, volunteers and stranded residents between Saipan, Tinian and Rota, and said it is committed to maintaining that lifeline throughout the recovery.

Star Marianas said it looks forward to continued partnership with the Commonwealth Ports Authority to keep the runways accessible and the Marianas connected.
