SAIPAN — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the CNMI Joint Information Center, Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency released the village-by-village schedule for Saipan residential debris removal beginning Wednesday, May 13.
The schedule covers 10 sectors moving generally from south to north over approximately six weeks. Crews will pass through each sector across multiple days, with different debris types collected on different days, the JIC said. Changes due to weather or operational needs will be announced as they occur.
SECTOR-BY-SECTOR SCHEDULE
Sector 1 covers Airport, Koblerville, Naftan Point and San Antonio, running May 13 to May 27.
Sector 2 covers As Lito, Chalan Kanoa, Chalan Kanoa South, Dandan and Susupe, running May 16 to June 6.
Sector 3 covers Garapan South, Gualo Rai and Oleai, running May 19 to June 2.
Sector 4 covers Chalan Kiya, Kannat Tabla and San Vicente, running May 22 to June 12.
Sector 5 covers Kagman 1 and 2, Kagman 3 and Lau Lau, running May 22 to June 12.
Sector 6 covers Garapan, Garapan North, Lower Base, Navy Hill and Puerto Rico, running May 28 to June 18.
Sector 7 covers As Teo, Capitol Hill and Papago, running June 7 to June 14.
Sector 8 covers As Matuis, San Roque and Tanapag, running June 13 to June 20.
Sector 9 covers Talofofo and Wireless, running June 7 to June 12.
Sector 10 covers Marpi, running May 28 to June 18.
SORTING REQUIREMENTS
Residents are asked to sort debris into six categories along the public right-of-way, without blocking roads, fire hydrants or utility meters. Categories are vegetative debris, large appliances, construction and demolition debris, sheet metal, electronics, and household hazardous materials.
Regular household trash, including bagged trash, food waste and paper goods, will not be collected under this program. Residents should continue using existing municipal or contracted trash services for routine garbage.
