SAIPAN — The Commonwealth Ports Authority confirmed this morning that runway lights at Saipan’s airport are back in service after a NOTAM reported the lights were out of service for Runway 07/25.
In a phone call with NMI News Service, CPA Airside Operations said the lights were restored last night, and that scheduled arrivals were delayed rather than diverted.
CPA said two inbound flights that were expected last night are instead arriving during daylight hours, including a flight expected at 7:30 a.m. and another expected at 3 p.m.
Asked what caused the outage, CPA said rainwater likely got into electrical lines and burned sections of the line, but the issue was resolved overnight and “back in service.”
