SAIPAN — The U.S. Coast Guard has ordered the suspension of all cargo loading and discharge at Rota West Harbor’s commercial berths due to potential hazards at Berths 1 and 2, the Commonwealth Ports Authority announced Wednesday in Port Update 18.
The closure is a significant change from the previous update, which showed Rota’s port open under Port Heavy Weather Condition Whiskey.
At the Port of Saipan, a backup generator has been installed at the main port and assessments of dock lights are underway to determine whether night operations are possible. The port remains fully open for commercial traffic and cargo without restrictions.
The Port of Tinian remains open to all commercial traffic under PHWC Whiskey with daylight-only operations. Rota airport and Saipan airport continue daylight-only flights. Tinian Airport is restricted to humanitarian flights and is now on FEMA generator power.
The Bank of Guam ATM at Saipan International Airport remains out of service.
