SAIPAN — Monday brings a partly sunny break with isolated showers and a 30 percent rain chance before conditions turn wetter Tuesday, just in time for the first day of school, according to the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam.
Saipan sees scattered island effect showers this afternoon with highs around 87 and light southwest winds. Monday night drops to a 20 percent chance with lows around 77.
Tuesday, as public schools open for the 2026-2027 school year, the chance of showers climbs to 40 percent, with scattered island effect showers and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon as winds shift northeast. The 40 percent chance holds Tuesday night with lows around 75, before Wednesday eases to 30 percent under mostly cloudy skies. Rota sees a similar pattern, with scattered showers today at 30 percent and Tuesday night at 40 percent.
On the water, gentle southwesterlies continue decreasing today, possibly becoming light and variable near Saipan. Combined seas of 4 to 6 feet persist today and may drop a foot or so by Tuesday.
Forecasters said more bands of scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms remain possible throughout the week depending on the development and track of Invest 92W in eastern Micronesia, which continues to be monitored closely.
At Tanapag Harbor, Saipan, high tide reaches 1.8 feet at 11:04 a.m. Monday, with low tide at 0.7 feet at 4:58 p.m., high tide at 2.1 feet at 11:16 p.m. and low tide at 0.5 feet at 6 a.m. Tuesday.
