SAIPAN — A cloudy Monday with numerous showers and a 70% chance of rain opens the week across the Marianas, with highs around 85 and southeast winds of 10 to 15 mph, the National Weather Service said in its 6:10 a.m. forecast.
Tonight eases to scattered showers with a 30% chance and lows around 78. Tuesday and Tuesday night hold a 50% shower chance with highs around 88 as winds turn southwest at 15 to 20 mph, and Wednesday keeps a 40% chance with more of the same.
No marine advisories are in effect. The westerly swell from Typhoon Bavi continues to diminish, with combined seas at 5 to 6 feet today, NWS said. A new southwesterly swell will start to build later today, and how quickly remains uncertain, depending on the strength and track of Invest 97W, which the weather service said it will monitor closely. Southwest winds are expected to hold through Friday.
