Secretary of Finance Tracy Norita has resigned, NMI News Service has confirmed.

Norita’s departure comes at a consequential moment for the Department of Finance, which notified the Settlement Fund this month that Monday, August 31 is the last date it can fund the full 25 percent pension benefit payment, with $2.6 million needed against $1.6 million appropriated under Public Law 24-34. No connection between the resignation and the department’s fiscal position has been established, and the reason for her departure has not been disclosed.
