CUC postpones today’s scheduled power interruption on Tinian

TINIAN — The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation has postponed the scheduled power service interruption planned for today, Friday, Aug. 21, on Tinian.

The interruption was set to run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and would have affected Marpo Heights I and II, including areas west of the Tinian Airport, Ace Hardware and Docomo Pacific, to allow the CUC line crew to replace three damaged 45-foot power poles with concrete poles.

CUC did not announce a new date for the work.

The postponement does not affect the remaining interruption in the advisory. On Sunday, Aug. 23, power will be interrupted from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Carolinas Agricultural areas to Suicide Cliff, with a momentary interruption from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. for portions of Marpo Valley and the Carolinas Agricultural areas, to allow the line crew to remove and install power equipment. No water wells are affected.

Motorists are advised to reduce speeds and exercise caution while driving in work areas or to take alternative routes.
