SAIPAN — Taking a test drive can now double as a vote for your favorite school, with Atkins Kroll Saipan launching its second annual Community Matters: Back to School Test Drive Campaign, running through Aug. 31 at the Atkins Kroll Toyota showroom in Puerto Rico.
The campaign invites residents to visit the dealership, test drive any Toyota vehicle and cast a vote for the Saipan school they would like to support. Each completed test drive counts as one vote, and the school receiving the most votes by the end of the campaign will receive a $1,000 Community Matters donation, the company announced Tuesday.
“Last year’s response showed just how much our community cares about local education, and we’re looking forward to seeing that support again,” said Kevin Barnes, AK Saipan sales manager. “Visit our showroom, take a test drive, and help your favorite school earn a $1,000 donation. Together, we can make a difference for our students.”
Last year’s inaugural campaign saw schools across Saipan rally their communities. Dandan Middle School, home of the Tottot, led the effort with nine completed test drives and took home the $1,000 donation, presented to faculty and staff at the school. San Vicente Elementary School followed closely behind, with William S. Reyes Elementary School, Garapan Elementary School, Saipan Southern High School and Kagman Elementary School also drawing strong community support.
Participants of all ages with a valid driver’s license can take part. The campaign’s return coincides with the start of the new school year, which opened across the Public School System on Tuesday.
