ROTA — Governor David M. Apatang met Wednesday with Rota Mayor Aubry Hocog and other local officials to review the island’s recovery from Super Typhoon Bavi, on the same day federal disaster assistance opened for Rota residents.
The governor was joined by Governor’s Authorized Representative Patrick Guerrero, CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management Special Assistant Clement Bermudes, Public Works Secretary Ray Yumul, Commonwealth Utilities Corporation Executive Director Kevin Watson and FEMA Power Restoration Task Force Leader Mark Wingate.
The delegation visited power crews working to restore Rota’s electrical grid and toured the island’s power plant to assess ongoing recovery operations.
The visit came as FEMA’s Individual Assistance program and the U.S. Small Business Administration’s disaster loan program opened to Rota residents recovering from Bavi.
