Hagåtña, Guam — The Aydlett Brothers will break ground August 29 on their ninth Tower for Humanity project, a scaled replica of the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers marking the 25th anniversary of September 11.
The tower will rise in the Micronesia Mall Center Court, scaled to 25 feet at the tip of the North Tower’s spire. It will be the Tower Team’s largest project yet, using more than 100,000 toy timber logs, 25,000 more than the record the brothers set in June 2022 with 74,019 logs. The project will not seek an official Guinness World Record.
The build seeks to remember the lives lost on September 11 and to honor first responders for their service. Construction begins at 10 a.m. ChST on Saturday, August 29, with a target completion of Wednesday, September 9, and will continue during mall hours. The community is welcome to volunteer, particularly between August 29 and September 6.
The project, the ninth since Tower for Humanity began in June 2022, also aims to raise awareness of and support for Hunger Action Month and National Preparedness Month. The Tower for Humanity will host events at the Micronesia Mall in September and October, including the fourth annual Cans for Humanity Guam Food Drive and charity event with Be Heartfelt.
Since 2022, the tower projects have been the brothers’ way of giving back, a building for a cause, benefiting Guam and people across the Micronesia region. The team encourages the community to partner with any local charity or nonprofit.
