SAIPAN — Power crews from the Guam Power Authority landed on Saipan Saturday to assist with restoration efforts following Super Typhoon Sinlaku, with a second wave of crews expected to arrive Sunday morning.
The first team is on the ground for damage assessments, coordination and early restoration work alongside CUC crews. CUC said it is grateful to GPA and Guam for the support during the recovery.
The GPA arrival comes the same day CUC reported that power was restored to parts of Garapan, Lower Base, Quartermaster and IT&E on Friday afternoon — the first significant restoration since the storm struck April 13. With both Aggreko synchronization underway at Plant 4 and GPA crews now on island, the pace of recovery is expected to accelerate heading into next week.
