SAIPAN – The second shipment of power transmission and distribution materials from the Guam Power Authority arrived at the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation warehouse Wednesday afternoon, with additional materials expected in the weeks ahead for ongoing power restoration on Saipan and Tinian.
The shipment includes 35 transformers, 45 reels of #4 Triplex wire, and 35 reels of #2 Triplex wire. It also includes 25 concrete power poles measuring 45 feet and 28 measuring 40 feet, for a combined 53 poles.
CUC said the additional materials will allow crews to continue repairs and replacement of damaged electrical infrastructure on Saipan and Tinian, where work remains underway 38 days after Super Typhoon Sinlaku.
The utility extended appreciation to GPA for its continued support and partnership in assisting with island-wide power restoration and recovery efforts.
CUC and GPA mutual aid crews have been working alongside each other on power restoration since the early days of recovery.
