CUC Crews Pressing Recovery on Multiple Fronts: Leaks, Pipes, Wet Wells and Wastewater Plants

SAIPAN — Commonwealth Utilities Corporation crews are making steady progress repairing water leaks, replacing damaged pipes, pumping wet wells to prevent sanitary overflows and maintaining critical equipment at wastewater treatment plants, the agency said.

CUC said its water and wastewater crews are also cleaning and greasing clarifier mechanisms and clearing lift station bar screens at wastewater treatment plants.

“Our crews remain committed and are working diligently every day to safely bring systems back online,” CUC said. “We appreciate the community’s continued patience and support as restoration efforts move forward.”

The update comes as Saipan water restoration sits at 49%, the figure cited by Governor David M. Apatang in his Monday memo extending administrative leave for non-essential Executive Branch employees through May 8.
