CPUC to Weigh Proposed FAC Increase, Aggreko Contract Friday

SAIPAN — The Commonwealth Public Utilities Commission will meet Friday, May 15, to take up a proposed fuel adjustment charge increase to $0.44489 per kilowatt-hour, an Aggreko contract extension and post-typhoon recovery reports from CUC and the islands’ two telecommunications carriers.

The business meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. at the CPUC office at Marianas Business Plaza, Suite 702, on the seventh floor of the Nauru Loop Road building in Susupe. Public attendance and written and oral testimony are welcome, the commission said in a notice signed by Acting Chairman Dr. Jack Angello.

The fuel adjustment charge filing, identified as Administrative Filing A-05-2026, is among 12 old-business items on the agenda. Other items include the CUC rate case status, a status report on FAC revenue reconciliation, the solar project and its power purchase agreement, and a motion for extension of time on net metering payments.

Under new business, the commission will consider an Aggreko contract extension. Aggreko is the emergency diesel-generator contractor supporting CUC’s grid through Sinlaku recovery.

Recovery reports from DOCOMO CNMI and IT&E CNMI are also on the agenda, along with an updated CUC status report covering power, water and wastewater.

Election of new CPUC officers is listed under miscellaneous business and is to be discussed in executive session.
