SAIPAN — The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority has suspended its Blue Line 1B fixed-route service following Typhoon Sinlaku, but Call-A-Ride demand response service remains operating across Saipan, Tinian and Rota for essential medical trips.
COTA said power outages and debris on roadways make fixed-route service unsafe. Blue Line 1B will not resume until power is restored and major hazards are cleared.
Call-A-Ride is running limited service for essential trips including hemodialysis, prescription refills, clinic visits and scheduled appointments. Service is prioritized by need and road accessibility.
COTA said it is also supporting the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management Operations Center with shelter transportation and other recovery transportation needs.
