CNMI Public Safety Commissioner Mourns Guam Police Chief Stephen Ignacio

SAIPAN — The CNMI Department of Public Safety is mourning the passing of Guam Police Chief Stephen Ignacio, with Commissioner Anthony I. Macaranas remembering him as a trusted friend and dedicated partner to the Commonwealth.

In a statement, Macaranas said Ignacio was more than a law enforcement leader and that throughout his tenure as chief he consistently supported the CNMI department, strengthening the relationship between the two agencies.

Macaranas said that partnership gave CNMI officers access to training opportunities, logistical assistance and professional collaboration, and that the benefits would have a lasting impact on the department’s officers and the communities they serve.

“His commitment to public service and his willingness to assist the CNMI Department of Public Safety reflected the true spirit of leadership,” Macaranas said.

On behalf of the men and women of the department, the commissioner extended condolences to Ignacio’s family, friends and the members of the Guam Police Department. He said the CNMI joins them in mourning the loss of a respected leader and cherished friend, and that Ignacio’s legacy of service and professionalism will not be forgotten.
