Saipan, Tinian See Partly Sunny Skies, Scattered Showers as Forecasters Watch 92W

SAIPAN — Saipan and Tinian wake up to a partly sunny Tuesday with scattered showers in the morning before turning partly cloudy with isolated showers in the afternoon, the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam said.

Highs will reach around 88 degrees with east winds of 15 to 20 mph and a 30 percent chance of showers. Tuesday night turns mostly cloudy with scattered showers, east winds easing to 10 to 15 mph, and a low near 78.

Rota sees a quieter day, partly cloudy with isolated showers, a high near 88, and a 20 percent chance of showers.

Tanapag Harbor on Saipan posts a low tide of -0.9 feet at 2:41 p.m. and a high tide of 2.5 feet at 10:35 p.m. Marianas coastal waters carry seas around 4 feet under east winds, with an east swell beginning to build and the potential for combined seas to reach 5 feet by the latter half of the week.

The midweek outlook holds steady, partly cloudy Wednesday before showers and a chance of thunderstorms return Thursday into the Juneteenth holiday Friday.

Forecasters are also watching Invest 92W, a weak and disorganized tropical disturbance the weather service says could pass through the Marianas between Thursday evening and Friday evening, though its track and strength remain uncertain. No tropical storm or typhoon watches or warnings are in effect. The system is moving west-northwest after failing to organize over the weekend, and the Joint Typhoon Warning Center late Monday raised its chance of developing into a tropical cyclone from sub-low to low.
