TINIAN – All 11 marine water samples collected from Tinian’s recreational beaches and storm water drainages this week met CNMI Marine Water Quality Standards, the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality reported.
None of the samples contained excessive concentrations of fecal indicator bacteria, BECQ said, and all sampled beach sites received a green flag for the week of May 20.
The samples were collected from 11 locations across Tinian as part of the bureau’s regularly scheduled sampling program.
Marine Water Quality Reports are posted at deq.gov.mp/beach-advisories.html. BECQ encourages the public to direct any questions about beach water quality to the bureau at 670-664-8500.
The green flag rating reflects bacterial water quality only. A separate high rip current advisory issued Tuesday afternoon by the CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management remains in effect for east-facing reefs across Saipan, Tinian, and Rota through Thursday afternoon.
