SAIPAN — Governor David M. Apatang visited the As Gonno Temporary Debris Storage and Waste Reduction Site on June 2, where he met with members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers leading the CNMI’s debris recovery work.
Apatang met with Brigadier General Joseph C. “Clete” Goetz and Lt. Col. Simratpal Singh of the Army Corps during the visit. He thanked the team for its work supporting the commonwealth’s recovery from Super Typhoon Sinlaku.
The governor said the dedication of Army Corps personnel and contractors has played a vital role in moving communities forward, from removing and consolidating debris to reducing hazards and restoring safe conditions across the islands.
The Commonwealth remains grateful for the continued partnership and commitment of the Army Corps as recovery efforts continue, the governor’s office said.
