Honolulu, Hawaii — Governor Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero said Guam is asserting its role as both a strategic and economic leader in the Pacific during The Pacific Agenda: Investment, Security, and Shared Prosperity Summit in Honolulu, where Pacific Island heads of government, senior U.S. federal officials, and private sector leaders gathered for discussions on commercially viable investments across the Indo-Pacific region.
The Governor’s Office said Leon Guerrero was among a by-invitation-only group participating in the summit and described the first day of engagements as highly productive. In a statement, Leon Guerrero said Guam made clear it is “far more than a strategic outpost” and described the island as a vibrant economy and gateway to the Pacific.
The release said Guam’s team in Honolulu includes GEDA Director Tina Garcia and is engaged in talks shaped by the view that long-term economic development and regional security are closely linked. It also described a framework in which governments play an enabling role while private sector growth drives development across critical industries.
According to the Governor’s Office, sectors identified for Guam include additive manufacturing, healthcare, and tourism. Leon Guerrero said Guam’s participation is intended to keep the island’s voice at the forefront of shaping the region’s future.
Leon Guerrero also said Guam sits at a key intersection of American security and Pacific prosperity, and that aligning local priorities with federal and private-sector investment can produce long-term stability and economic progress for Guam and the wider Pacific region.
