Tamuning, Guam — The Guam Economic Development Authority has launched BUY GUAM, a public awareness campaign aimed at encouraging residents, visitors and the international market to support local businesses and Made in Guam products bearing the Guam Product Seal.
GEDA said the campaign was recently unveiled during its Taking the Leap Beyond Guam virtual export conference and is intended to increase demand for locally produced goods while improving the competitiveness of local businesses and entrepreneurs. The campaign will feature Guam-based manufacturers and producers and promote local products through television, digital media and community outreach.
Governor Lourdes A. Leon Guerrero said the campaign is intended to build pride in local products while supporting Guam’s long-term economic stability through consumer purchasing decisions.
GEDA CEO/Administrator Christina D. Garcia also emphasized the economic impact of buying local, saying consumer spending on Guam-made products helps keep money on island and supports a stronger local economy.
GEDA identified four campaign goals: increasing promotion of locally produced goods, encouraging local enterprise and job creation, building consumer trust in Made in Guam products and awareness of the Guam Product Seal, and improving the competitiveness of local businesses in both domestic and international markets.
