SAIPAN – The high surf advisory along west-facing reefs expires at 5 a.m. Tuesday and the high rip current risk ends late tonight, the National Weather Service said in its 6 p.m. forecast, but a disorganized monsoon pattern will keep showers and thunderstorms over the Marianas all week, with locally heavy rain possible starting Friday.
The small craft advisory for Marianas coastal waters runs through early Tuesday morning. Seas of 7 to 10 feet tonight, driven by southwesterly monsoon swell and Tropical Depression Atsani, well west-northwest of the Marianas beyond Yap, are expected to subside to around 5 feet by midweek before gradually building again into the weekend.
Tonight brings mostly cloudy skies with isolated showers becoming scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms after midnight, southwest winds 5 to 10 mph and lows around 78. Tuesday is partly sunny on Saipan and Tinian and partly cloudy on Rota with scattered showers, a 50 percent rain chance and highs around 86. Wednesday and Thursday stay mostly cloudy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, highs around 86 and lows around 78.
At Tanapag Harbor, high tide of 1.9 feet comes at 7:21 p.m. Monday and again at 4:28 a.m. Tuesday, with a 0.0-foot low at 12:02 p.m. Tuesday. Sunrise Tuesday is at 6:09 a.m.; sunset is at 6:37 p.m.
