Project H.A.F.A. participants complete workshop, begin internships Monday

SAIPAN — Participants in Career Pathways: Project H.A.F.A. are set to begin four-week internships with local businesses and organizations Monday, Aug. 24, after completing their internship orientation and preparedness workshop.

Project H.A.F.A., short for Helping All Find Advancement, is a collaborative initiative between the Saipan Chamber of Commerce and CNMI Technology PIECES under Northern Marianas College’s University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. The program gives participants workplace exposure, employment skills and the chance to explore career pathways through hands-on experience.

Saipan participants gathered at the Chamber office Aug. 19 for the orientation and workshop, while two participants from Tinian joined virtually through Google Meet. The session covered the program, workplace expectations and the upcoming internship experience through icebreakers, interactive activities and internship-related discussions.

Throughout the four-week placement period, participants will gain practical workplace experience supported by their industry partners. The Chamber thanked CNMI Technology PIECES and recognized the industry partners hosting participants: 500 Sails, TurnKey Solutions, PHI Pharmacy, the Saipan Chamber of Commerce, Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan, Commonwealth Communications (NMI News Service), Northern Marianas Protection and Advocacy Systems Inc., Tinian Fuel Services and the Department of Labor’s Tinian office.

The Chamber said the participation of local businesses gives participants the opportunity to experience the workplace, build confidence, strengthen employment skills and explore career interests in a supportive environment.
