SAIPAN — Residents hoping to stake out a lot along the route for Saturday’s 80th Liberation Day Parade can request one through the Department of Public Works, the 2026 CNMI Liberation Day Committee announced in a public service announcement.
Anyone who wishes to obtain a lot to watch the Liberation Parade should contact the Department of Public Works’ Right of Way Section for assistance at (670) 234-9828, the announcement said. The office is taking calls Wednesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The parade steps off Saturday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. along Quartermaster Road, concluding at the Civic Center festival grounds in Susupe, where the 80th Liberation Day festivities open Friday afternoon. The parade will be led by Grand Marshal Pedro “Pete” Agulto Tenorio, a signer of the Covenant, in the same year the Commonwealth marks the agreement’s 50th anniversary.
Weather officials said Wednesday they are watching Tropical Depression 17W’s forecast closely heading into the weekend and will be working with event decision-makers as the track becomes clearer. No tropical cyclone watches or warnings are in effect for the Marianas.
