SAIPAN — The Marianas can expect partly sunny skies with only isolated showers through the weekend, the National Weather Service in Tiyan said in its Thursday morning forecast.
Saipan, Tinian and Rota will see partly cloudy skies with isolated light showers in the morning Thursday, turning partly sunny with isolated showers in the afternoon. Winds will be light and variable and highs will reach around 87 degrees, with a 20 percent chance of showers. Thursday night will be partly cloudy with isolated showers and lows around 78.
Friday and Saturday carry a similar pattern, with isolated light showers in the morning giving way to isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Highs will stay around 87 and the chance of showers holds at 20 percent. The outlook from Saturday night through Wednesday calls for partly cloudy skies, lows in the upper 70s and highs in the upper 80s.
On the water, light to gentle east winds are expected for the rest of the week. The Weather Service said the sea state consists of a persistent trade swell and a small west swell from the remnants of Tropical Storm Jangmi, with combined seas of 3 to 4 feet persisting into the weekend.
