SAIPAN — The Public School System will provide free lunch meals to children across the CNMI this summer through its Summer Food Service Program, with distribution beginning June 8 at 11 sites on Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
Meals will be available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon, except holidays, through July 31 while supplies last. Only lunch meals are offered, and they are free for all children 18 years old and younger.
On Saipan, meals will be distributed at Garapan Elementary School, Kagman Elementary School, Koblerville Elementary School, Oleai Elementary School, William S. Reyes Elementary School, Dandan Middle School, FMS Middle School and Tanapag Middle School. Tinian Elementary School is the distribution site on Tinian. On Rota, meals will be available at Sinapalo Elementary School and Dr. Rita H. Inos Jr/Sr High School.
PSS said children must be on site to receive their own meal, including toddlers and infants. Because of Super Typhoon Sinlaku, parents who are unable to bring their children may present the child’s identification to pick up meals on their behalf. Children without identification must be present to receive a meal.
The program is offered through the Child Nutrition Program in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. For more information, the public may call 664-3901 or 664-3902.
