SAIPAN — Today, June 1, is the deadline for Super Typhoon Sinlaku survivors to apply for the S.T.R.O.N.G. Tent and Roofing Program, officials said.
CNMI homeowners affected by the storm may be eligible for a temporary tent and, on Saipan and Tinian, a temporary roof while permanent repairs are underway. The program is provided at no cost.
It is coordinated by the CNMI government, the Saipan, Tinian and Rota mayors’ offices, CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Department of Defense.
To apply, residents should visit their local Mayor’s Office to register and complete a Right of Entry form. The Army Corps of Engineers will assess each home for eligibility, and approved households will receive temporary roofing at no cost. Officials said accepting a temporary roof will not affect a household’s FEMA disaster assistance or emergency tent eligibility.
For more information or to register, residents can contact their Mayor’s Office: Saipan at 670-234-6208; Tinian at 670-433-1802 or 670-433-1828; and Rota at 670-532-9451 or 670-532-9452.
