SAIPAN — The American Red Cross Northern Mariana Islands Chapter is reminding residents that its Sinlaku financial assistance program is limited to households whose primary home was destroyed or suffered major damage from the typhoon, and that proof of address is required at every site.
The chapter said aid is not available for households with minor flooding, broken windows, or damage limited to vehicles or personal property.
Residents without clear documentation of their current home address should visit their Mayor’s Office before going to an assistance site. The Mayor’s Office can provide a letter verifying the address that will help Red Cross teams determine eligibility, the chapter said.
The chapter said the steps are intended to keep lines moving and allow teams to assist as many households as possible each day.
