SAIPAN — A Fina Sisu homeowner confronted a man on his property Monday morning in an incident captured on video that began circulating on social media later in the day.
Dennis Matsumoto said he was at home around 8 a.m. when his dog began barking. He looked outside and saw a man near one of his vehicles. Matsumoto ran outside, and the man fled down the road. Drivers passing by stopped to help, including Mike Tenorio and Larry Guerrero. Matsumoto recorded video of the confrontation that followed.
“He could have just walked by the property,” Matsumoto said. “No, he was in my property, and my dog was chasing him.”
Matsumoto said he contacted the Department of Public Safety after the incident.
The encounter comes during a period when Saipan residents have voiced increased concern about property security as Sinlaku recovery operations continue across the island. Matsumoto urged neighbors to stay alert.
“This is a time where everyone’s trying to protect their families,” he said. “When you have people try to take advantage of the situation, it just makes things harder.”
